In response to the Russian attack war against Ukraine, FIFA Russia had excluded from the World Cup play-offs. By contrast, the Russian association had appealed to the CAS. But the sports court stayed this on Friday. The exclusion has insisted that Russia has almost no chances for a World Cup participation in Qatar end of the year – a final judge saying is only expected in a few weeks.
The Russian selection would have been against Poland on 24 March. However, the Polish Federation had already announced at an early stage in response to the Russian invasion in the neighboring country, by no means want to play against the Sbornaja. Shortly thereafter, the official exclusion was followed by the FIFA. Poland attracts instead without play in the second play-off phase. There, the team for Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski meets the winner of the game between Sweden and the Czech Republic on 29 March and plays around the World Cup ticket.
Already on Tuesday the CAS had made a similar decision and confirmed an urgent application of the Russian Association against the exclusion of clubs from all UEFA competitions.
