The much-noticed third division promotion with the Forest Green Rovers brings team manager Rob Edwards at least one step higher.
The relegation-threatened Premier League club FC Watford announced on Wednesday to go into the next season with the aspiring trainer.
Watford countered irritation about the supposed reject of the 39-year-old from the first vegan English football club in the press release.
“Rob had a contractual clause that allowed him to have discussions about job opportunities with other clubs at any time,” said the association.
These conversations were ultimately successful.
Edwards had not adopted the Rovers, which concentrated entirely on sustainability, until 2021.
He led the club to the climb and was elected fourth league coach of the season.
FC Watford is fighting against relegation into second class in the remaining season games.
